I was once told that the similar British SLR had been originally chambered for a smaller caliber than the 308. (I can’t remember the caliber, so I am going to blame my CRS)

So when the Americans insisted on going for 308 for standardization of rifle calibers for NATO instead. The Brits had to upped the caliber to 308 which I have been told pushed the recoil up considerably.

Now I may be wrong about this. But the 308 is not exactly a pussy in the recoil area. On this issue I can easily & honestly testify about myself.

That & after 55 years plus of shooting almost everything from 22LR to 416 Rigby. I have become VERY recoil sensitive. So I can understand the limb saver being put on it.

Anyways, Thanks for your comments & the time you have spent on my Humble Blog!
