The Star Model 1922 was produced for Spain’s Guardia Civil. Essentially based on the 1911, the 1922 had simplifications including a magazine release which was easier to manufacture, a more simple extractor and the deletion of the grip safety.
Chambered in 9mm Largo, a cartridge longer than the familiar 9mm Luger but with similar power. The cartridge has been popular in Spain since its inception, used in many domestically produced pistols and sub machineguns.
