Garate Anitua Y Cia Model Detective, S&W M&P Copy, Gunsmith Special, Blue 4 3/8 Double Action Revolver, MFD 1904-14 .38 Colt

This is a copy of the S&W M&P 2^nd Model revolver made by Garate Anitua y Cia of Eibar, Spain. Many of the Eibar gun makers copied revolvers and rifles made by Winchester, Colt and Smith & Wesson, among others, and Garate Anitua was one of them.
Most ceased their commercial sales in the 1914 time frame to make Ruby pistols for France.  This double action revolver is blued with a 4 ¾” barrel chambered in .38 Long Colt. The bottom rear edge of the barrel is broken off (breach end) and there are a few mechanical problems. Otherwise, this revolver would be perfect for a gunsmith with some spare parts and the time to fit them.
